Mazda MX-5 has kept its momentum of providing comfort driving and accommodating all ages since 1989. This is what has kept it the best-selling sports car for generations. The Automobile Journalists’ Association of Canada recognized this car and named it the Best Sports Car in Canada in 2022.
It is, in fact, the second time this model has been awarded this title, and it now qualifies for the overall 2022 Canadian Car of the Year award. The grading was based on steering, handling and the car’s braking system.
David Klan, president and CEO of Mazda Canada, spoke about how honoured he is that the company was recognized for such an award. According to Klan, the MX-5 represents the whole of what Mazda has tried to maintain for 33 years, without changing the method of what makes the car to be the success it is. It is the best sports car in Langley, BC.
In 2016, the fourth generation of the MX-5 had new designs and had unlocked a new wave of updates for the other models developed since then. One of these 2022 updates was the Kinematic Posture Control brake torque vectoring, which lessens the car’s body roll when turning a corner, even if the driving speed is high.
The MX-5 gives a laid-back feel with the open-top feature for passengers to enjoy the outside world more. Drivers get the best driving experience on any road with the 2.0-litre engine that supplies the car with 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque sent to the rear wheels to give a more balanced power-to-weight power ratio.
The MX-5 has three trims: GS, GS-P and GT. The GS has all the standard features, including the 7-inch touchscreen display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with its starting price of $33,300. The GS-P takes all the GS features and adds on such features as heated seats and heated exterior mirrors, and its price starts at $37,300. The GT is superior to the other trims, adding components, such as the optional dark blue convertible roof, and the price starts at $40,400.
